FIESTA CELEBRATION

I really miss the fiesta celebrations that they do in the Philippines. It happens every year. The village where I grew up usually celebrates around September and the city (Maasin City) celebrates around August. It so much fun especially when all my relatives gather around for some food. There’s nothing like it. For some it’s a time to have some fun and for some, a time to rant. This is also the time for lecture. LOL. Yup. I used to always get told off around this time because I did something naughty. O_O.

I used to hate parts of it because I knew that one of my aunts would eventually caught up with me to say that they were disappointed in me. They’d do it almost everytime I am about to eat one of my favorite foods and it was my Aunt’s macaroni salad. The conversation would always start with: I heard from your other aunt that… blah, blah, blah… I can’t believe… blah, blah blah. LOL. In my mind I would be like: Oh geez here we go again! :P

I used to hate that part, BUT(!!) I didn’t hate the food. The food was awesome! I also used to enjoy my cousin’s company. I didn’t see them often, but like I said, everyone gathers when there’s a fiesta celebration. They’d come from different places, Davao, bukid, etc. I used to look forward to that part. It was fun to hang out with them. Some were cool cousins and some weren’t so cool. :P.

Now that I am older and far away from home I miss it and wants to experience it again. I’ve been looking at photos on Friendster and I can’t help but wonder what it’s like. It’s been so long. Maybe someday when the kids are older I can take them and let them experience it too. :-) ♥

THE SUPER BOWL AGAIN

Ryan’s called 2x about the party. He wanted to make sure that I really didn’t want to go. Hmn… Not sure. I had a headache earlier. It’s gone but I am so sleepy! Jonathon woke up early today at 4.30am! I feel like a zombie today! I am 80% sure I am not going to the super bowl party.

BTW, I had indigestion yesterday. I had leftover Chinese food and 10 minutes after I ate it, I felt all weird and sleepy. I don’t think we’ll have Chinese food in the next few months. O_O. Sad… I love Chinese food. :(((

SUPER BOWL

Ryan’s workmate is holding a party in Arlington, TN and he asked if I wanted to go. I am not sure. Super bowl is not my thing. I remember last year when MIL and FIL invited people over to their house to watch the game and all I could hear was shouting and screaming. O_O. The men got so excited about the whole thing. I reckon the party will be full of men so I am going to save myself the boringness of it all. Ryan also said that if we go, he’s going to drink and he’s going to let me drive from Arlington. Whut? He’s smoking crack! He can go on his own. LOL.

I MET PHISCH!

Yesterday after we had lunch at Ginos, I asked Ryan if he could take me to the nearest Macy’s because I wanted to spend the gift card MIL gave me for Christmas. When he told me that we were heading to the nearest Macy’s near where Phisch lives I immediately called her and asked if she wanted to meet! It was short noticed and I really didn’t expect her to see me but she did! So nice! I’ve known her for a long time and it’s really cool that we finally met for the first time! I can tell you that she is so pretty and so nice! I met her boys too and they’re so cute! I definitely want to see her again next time we’re down here. That’s if she wants to of course! Thanks Phisch for coming to see us at the mall! It was awesome. I hope that we meet again next time we’re down in Texas! xoxo!

CHRISTMAS AT HOME

Our Christmas was really nice and cozy. We stayed home, hang out, opened presents, ate, and I got to drink a glass of white wine! Yum! It’s been a year and a few months since I had one. I enjoyed it a lot. :)

For our food we had honey glazed ham, broccoli, mashed potatoes, bread that was fresh from the oven, carrots, etc. It was a really nice and quiet Christmas celebration.

In the afternoon, we spoke to MIL and FIL on skype and we also got to see Memere on the webcam! YAY! After that, we called my family in England and spoke to them too. It was nice to hear from everyone. :) I really thought that it would be a very lonely Christmas because our families are miles away but it was actually nice. The kids also made it fun! Gotta love having kids!

I finished clearing up the kitchen a few moments ago and we have leftovers. I feel bad about it so I decided to put some in the freezer. I hope that they’re still okay to eat when defrosted. I also made pork paksiw of the leftover bone thingy that was left. Guess what? It came out good. Num yummy! ^_^

Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas! As for my present I got the iphone and other stuff! Picture after the fold. Click if you want to see my lovely iphone! Other presents are posted on flickr (for friends only to see).

ON MOTHER’S DAY

Mother’s day was celebrated around Ryan’s family. We started on Friday by going to Dave and Busters for dinner. After dinner we spent a few hours inside the game room and helped Chantelle won 740 plus worth of tickets. She was going to claim a prize with the whole thing but she decided to save it for next time because she wants to get a big fluffy toy. Those are worth around 1500 tickets so she decided to wait.

On Saturday, Ryan, Chantelle and I stayed home while MIL went grocery shopping. When she came back she had a card for me and Memere. The card she gave me almost made me cry because of the words that was written in it. It was so sweet and something that I felt for real. I gave her a hug and thanked her. Aww… My MIL is so sweet. ^_^. After all that, Chantelle and I helped her baked a cake for Papa Bob’s restaurant. :D

Sunday, we had lunch at Casa Ole. The food there was delicious. I had fajitas Ole (beef, chicken and shrimp) and that was really good. Best fajita I’ve had so far. Even Ryan said it was the best beef and chicken fajita he had too. After lunch, we went over to Mem’s to greet her a Happy Mother’s Day. Ryan’s Uncle and Auntie from Dallas were there too so that was nice. We were there from around 1-ish till 5! Great fun. When we left, they wished Ryan and I good luck for next week. ^_^ In the evening, Papa Bob knocked on our door and wished me a Happy Mother’s Day and told me about how the weekend was for him. It’s nice to know that he had a great weekend at his restaurant. He deserves it. I am glad for him. ^_^

As for Chantelle’s gifts for me, click here and here. I didn’t know my lips were that thick. I know it’s wide but I didn’t know it was that wide. :P. Ryan said it looks good even though it’s a little scary. LOL. Aww! She’s sweet! To sum it all up, it was a great weekend. Best Mother’s Day I had ever. ^_^.

CHANTELLE’S BIRTHDAY

April 9th, 2008 @ 4:41 pm • 3

Chantelle turned 9 yesterday! Yes, she’s nine (time flies)! MIL baked her a strawberry cake on Saturday which I thought was very nice. Then on Sunday we celebrated her birthday by opening her gifts from the in-laws and by eating the cake with homemade whipped cream and fresh strawberries on top. So good! Chantelle was really happy. MIL gave her an alarm clock, Enchanted DVD, a bunch of Hanna Montana and HSM stuff. MIL also gave her a silver necklace with heart pendant that she’s now fond of wearing.

gifts.jpgRyan and I bought her a bike. :). She was so happy when she saw what we got for her, but the thing is, it’s too small! We have to go back to Walmart to get the right size. No big deal though because we still have the receipt (whew!). We’re not done celebrating yet because on Saturday, we’re going to take her to Chuck E. Cheese’s. I’ve never been to that place so I don’t know what it’s like, but Ryan said she’s going to have a blast there. I’ll take his word for it.
